When did you join the company?

I joined Symrise Aqua Feed in January 2022. Before that, I have been involved in Marine fish aquaculture R&D in public organization and in private company. Then, managing a new project of marine fish production in South East Asia. From 2015, I have worked in sales position, in Asia for 6 years, then now for Symrise Aqua Feed.

Could you describe your job?

As member of the EMEA sales team, I am following up the Mediterranean area market for Aqua Feed as well as Middle East and Africa. I am in direct contact with our customers and more globally with the different actors of our industry.

Commercial aspects are of course of high importance for my position, but we give high importance to support our customers on technical points (application of our products, best adapted solutions…) and on the performance side, working in collaboration with them for the development of products and testing those products in our testing centres to better answer the needs of our customers.

Could you tell us what is a typical day as a “Technical Sales Manager EMEA”?

There are two typical days for a commercial person, at the office and when travelling. Even if we have recently learnt how to reduce our travelling days, meeting people face to face is still essential. When not travelling, following up trials, communication with customers, reporting, looking at products delivery are some of the main tasks. And of course, planning ahead, trying to define in advance where the industry will be in the coming months.

What has your experience at Symrise Aqua Feed been so far?

Coming from a position selling fish and shrimp diets to farmers, I have now learnt a lot about the supply of ingredients and additives to manufacture those diets. The impact which can have the global economic situation on those trades is very interesting and challenging. The use and valorisation of the co-products from fishing and aquaculture industries is a fascinating subject. This shows alternative exist for a sustainable development of aquaculture. I feel we are going in the right direction, being able to get the maximum of benefits from those co-products with the support of scientific studies.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I strongly believe in Aquaculture and the sustainability aspect of the products Symrise Aqua Feed is manufacturing is completely in line with a sustainable development for this industry.

There is still a lot of opportunities and challenges for aquaculture, we are learning everyday.

As member of the commercial team, I am in touch with the different departments of our companies, working together with the R&D, quality and regulatory, logistic,… teams. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the different aspects of our business, with a wide range of activities.

What are your passions in life?

I have always liked travelling discovering new culture, testing new food… But after having spent 16 years away from my home country, living in 5 different countries, I now appreciate to be back home in Brittany, France. For 2 years, I discovered a new passion for running. And I have always liked hiking, spending time outside with my family.

Could you tell us a fun fact about yourself?

After my studies, I worked in fish farm, then selling fish and shrimp diet, now selling ingredient for fish and shrimp diet manufacturer, so wondering if in few years I will become a fisherman or soya farmer…
